Membership of APIA is open to individuals and organisations who
share APIA's aspirations
and goals.
The future and stability of APRICOT is of prime importance to
APIA, as it is the foremost opportunity for Internet Operators
across the Asia Pacific region to meet. Members of APIA are
expected to work actively across the region to promote APRICOT,
to promote the Internet without boundaries or barriers to
participation, and further the goals of APIA.
APIA has 4 classes of membership. These are:
- Individual Member
- Non-Profit Organisation
- For-Profit Organisation
- Premium Organisation
All memberships are granted at the discretion of the APIA
Board, to whom all applications for membership must be
made. Applications for membership can be made at any time
via the downloadable
form. The form can either be sent to or given in person
to the Executive Secretary. The APIA Board will grant new
memberships during the period 1st April to 30th November in
any calendar year - when granted, that membership is valid for
every calender year the membership dues are paid.
If any member wishes to discontinue their membership, they
should notify the Executive Secretary in writing. There is no
refund if memberships are discontinued before the end of the
calendar year.
Memberships whose dues are not paid by the renewal date are
considered lapsed, and the member will have to apply to rejoin
APIA.
Individual Membership
Individual Membership of APIA is open to network engineers and
network operators who have an interest in the care, maintenance
and on-going growth of the Internet in the Asia and Pacific
regions.
Individual Members of APIA receive a 25% discount off
their conference fee for APRICOT. Individual members can also
stand for election to the APIA Board once they have been a
member for one whole calendar year. For any matters requiring
membership consent, Individual Members of APIA receive one vote.
Non-Profit Membership
Non-Profit Membership of APIA is open to registered non-profit
organisations which have an interest in the care, maintenance
and on-going growth of the Internet in the Asia and Pacific
regions.
The Non-Profit Organisation has its logo placed on the APIA
Partner page.
The nominated representative receives a 25% discount off
their conference fee for APRICOT. The nominated representative
of the Non-Profit Organisation can also stand for election to
the APIA Board once they have been the nominated representative
for one whole calendar year. For any matters requiring
membership consent, Non-Profit Members of APIA receive
one vote.
For-Profit Membership
For-Profit Membership of APIA is open to any commercial
organisation which has an interest in the care, maintenance
and on-going growth of the Internet in the Asia and Pacific
regions.
The For-Profit Organisation has its logo placed on the APIA
Partner page.
The nominated representative of the For-Profit
Organisation receives a 25% discount off their conference
fee for APRICOT. The nominated representative of the For-Profit
Organisation can also stand for election to the APIA Board
once they have been the nominated representative for one whole
calendar year. For any matters requiring membership consent,
For-Profit Members of APIA receive one vote.
Premium Membership
Premium Membership of APIA is open to any organisation which
has an interest in the care, maintenance and on-going growth
of the Internet in the Asia and Pacific regions.
The Premium Organisation has its logo placed prominently on
the APIA Partner page and on the APRICOT website alongside
the APIA logo. The Premium Organisation is also mentioned in
all publicity and marketing undertaking by APIA. All employees
of the Premium Organisation receive a 25% discount off their
conference fee for APRICOT. The nominated representative of
the Premium Organisation can also stand for election to the
APIA Board once they have been the nominated representative for
one whole calendar year. For any matters requiring membership
consent, Premium Members of APIA receive four votes.
Organisational Member Nominated Representatives
The nominated representative of an Organisational Member
must be declared at the time the Organisation
joins APIA. Any changes in the nominated representative must
be notified by the membership renewal date. Changes made
prior to the membership renewal take effect from the following
calendar year, unless the existing nominated representative
is no longer affiliated to or employed by the
Organisation.
Subscription Rates and Renewals
Membership Subscription rates are as follows:
- Individual Member - US$50
- Non-Profit Organisation - US$250
- For-Profit Organisation - US$1000
- Premium Organisation - US$10000
Membership renewals must be made by 31st December for
the membership to be valid for the following calendar year
and to allow the member to participate in APIA's Annual
General Meeting. There are no exceptions.
As per APIA's by-laws, the AGM is held in January,
or at some other time at the discretion of the APIA
Board.
